It All Starts With People: Staffing, Longevity, and the Legacy of Labor Systems
In an industry built on speed, demand, and constant change, longevity stands out.
Staffing is not known for long tenures. It is fast-paced. It is unpredictable. It requires constant problem-solving, relationship-building, and adaptability.
And yet, some companies do more than keep up.
They last.
More importantly, their people do too.
A Milestone Few Ever Reach
As a company, we’ve recently hit a significant milestone.
Arizona Labor Force, the foundation behind Labor Systems, celebrated 40 years in business.
Fewer than 3 percent of businesses ever reach four decades.
That kind of longevity does not happen by accident.
It is built over time, through consistency, resilience, and most importantly, people.
Because behind every year, every office, and every milestone are the individuals who showed up, stayed, and helped build something that lasts.
Where It All Began
Forty years ago, our CEO took a risk.
With just $5,000, he started what would become a network of companies spanning multiple states, with dozens of offices serving thousands of workers and businesses.
He was an entrepreneur in the truest sense. He took chances, moved quickly, and surrounded himself with exceptional people.
What started with one client quickly became two. Then twenty.
But more importantly, he gave people something to believe in.
A vision.
A belief that putting people to work is not just a job, but one of the most meaningful careers someone can have.
Because at its core, staffing is about being part of the solution.
It is helping people earn a paycheck, often daily, which can be life-changing.
It is helping businesses scale up or down when it matters most.
It is creating stability in moments where it is needed most.
Longevity That Tells a Story
In staffing, long tenure is rare.
Which is why this matters.
Today:
- Six employees have been with the company for over 30 years
- Fifteen have been here between 20 and 30 years
- Twenty have been here between 10 and 20 years
That is not just a statistic.
That is a reflection of culture.
People do not stay that long unless something is working.
They stay because they believe in the work.
They stay because they are supported.
They stay because they are part of something bigger than themselves.
Longevity like this creates something you cannot replicate overnight.
It creates trust.
It creates consistency.
It creates teams that understand not just the business, but the people behind it.
More Than a Business
The true impact of this work is not always measured in numbers.
Sometimes, it shows up in moments you never expect.
Years ago, after a fire severely damaged one of the company’s offices in Kingman, Arizona, it seemed impossible to reopen in time.
But something unexpected happened.
A man walked in and offered help.
Years earlier, he and his wife had moved to the area with nothing. No jobs. No stability. They found work through Labor Systems, collected daily pay, and slowly rebuilt their lives.
Now, he owned a shopping center across the street.
He offered a vacant suite so the office could reopen immediately.
That Monday, the doors opened.
And because they did, over 100 people were able to work and get paid.
That moment says everything.
This is not just a business.
This is impact.
Why Longevity Matters in Staffing
Staffing is often seen as transactional.
Fill a role. Move on. Repeat.
But that view misses what actually drives success.
Longevity creates relationships.
It means clients know who they are working with.
It means workers know who they can trust.
It means teams operate with confidence and experience.
That kind of consistency cannot be rushed.
It is built over years of showing up and doing the work the right way.
A People-First Model That Endures
From the beginning, one idea has remained constant:
It all starts with people.
That belief shows up in everything:
- Leaders who work alongside their teams
- Offices that support each other
- Long-term relationships with clients and workers
- A commitment to developing people, not just placing them
It is the reason people stay.
And it is the reason the company continues to grow.
From Jobs to Careers
At its best, staffing is not about filling positions.
It is about creating opportunities.
It is someone’s first job.
It is someone’s second chance.
It is someone’s path forward.
Over time, those moments turn into something bigger.
They turn into careers.
They turn into stability.
They turn into stories that last far beyond a single placement.
A Legacy Still Being Written
After 40 years, one thing is clear.
This company was never built on transactions.
It was built on people.
Through strong markets and challenging ones, through growth and change, that has remained the constant.
The work may be temporary.
The impact is not.
And with a team made up of individuals who have dedicated decades to this mission, the foundation is stronger than ever.
Because when people stay, when they care, and when they believe in what they are building, something rare happens.
It lasts.
Cheers to 40 years.
And to the people who made it possible.
And to the next 40.
